Clyde man dies in two-vehicle crash on SR 101

Seneca County, Ohio — The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Thursday at 9:15 p.m.

The crash occurred on State Route 101, near milepost 9, in Seneca County.

54-year-old James A. Kear, of Clyde, was driving a 2012 Ford F-150 southwest bound on SR 101.

49-year-old Mark A. Myers, of Huron, was driving a 2019 Chevy Suburban northeast bound on SR 101.

Kear traveled left of the center line and struck Myers head on. After impact, Kear’s truck came to rest on the west side of SR 101 and Myers’ SUV came to rest on the east side of SR 101.

Kear was wearing his seatbelt at time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. He was transported from the scene by the Seneca County Coroner to Tiffin Mercy Hospital.

Myers was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and had to be extracted from his vehicle by mechanical means.

Myers was flown via Life Flight to St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo with critical injuries.

Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Wilcox Towing.

Alcohol and/or drug usage is undetermined as a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.

Assisting on scene were Green Springs Fire Department, Seneca County EMS, North Central EMS, Life Flight, Ohio Department of Transportation, Seneca County Coroner and Wilcox Towing.
