Clyde man killed in single vehicle crash on SR 523




Sandusky County, Ohio — The Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on SR 523 near TR 170 in Sandusky County.

The crash occurred Tuesday, October 27, and was reported at 8:13 p.m.

A white 2016 Nissan Maxima driven by Travis R. Swearington, age 40, of Clyde, Ohio was eastbound on SR 523.

Mr. Swearington drifted off the left side of the road, struck a traffic sign, a fence, and then a tree before coming to a final rest.

Mr. Swearington sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

Mr. Swearington was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol/Drug impairment are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Lindsey Fire Department, Sandusky County EMS, and Grunden’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
