Republic man seriously injured in Seneca County crash

Pleasant Township, Seneca County, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred Friday evening.

The crash occurred on County Road 38 in Pleasant Township around 8:15 p.m.

54-year-old Kimberly Illig, of Tiffin, was driving a 2017 Toyota Highlander eastbound on CR 38.

54-year-old Scott Carter, of Republic, was driving a 1995 Harley Davidson FLSTF when Illig made a left turn into a private driveway and struck Carter.

Illig’s vehicle sustained disabling damage in the crash and was secured in her driveway. Illig sustained no injuries from the crash and was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to troopers.

Carter’s vehicle sustained disabling damage in the crash and was towed by D&D Total Repair.

Carter sustained serious injuries from the crash and was transported to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Toledo by Life Flight. Carter was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation at this time. Alcohol and/or drug usage are not considered to be factors at this time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on-scene by the Green Springs Fire Department, North Central EMS, Mercy Life Flight, and D&D Total Repair.
