St. Catherine's Manor in Fostoria has the highest number of coronavirus cases out of any long-term care facility in Seneca County, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

As Ohio contends with a historic epidemic, residents of the state’s nearly 1,000 nursing homes are taking the brunt of the damage. As of last week, 2,100 of Ohio’s 2,600 COVID-19 deaths since mid-April — about 4 in 5 deaths — were among nursing home residents.

Nursing homes and care facilities in Seneca County have relatively low numbers of cases among residents and staff, with one notable exception in Fostoria.

The counts below are as of Aug. 12 and reflect current and cumulative cases of COVID-19 among facility staff and residents reported to the Ohio Department of Health.

Current case counts are defined as residents or staff that had active COVID-19 infection during the prior week (Wednesday through Tuesday). Cumulative counts are defined as residents or staff that had active COVID-19 infection at any point from April 15, 2020 onward. The cumulative totals do not include patients or staff who have recovered, have been hospitalized, or have passed away prior to April 15, 2020.

These numbers are updated by the Ohio Department of Health each Wednesday on its coronavirus dashboard website.
