Seneca County GOP chairman tests positive for COVID-19
The chairman of the Seneca County Republican Party has tested positive for COVID-19.
Chris Widman, who also serves as executive director of Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria and as a member of the Tiffin City Board of Education, announced his positive test result Friday.
The Ohio National Guard conducted mass testing at Good Shepherd Home in late July, and the results were received by the nursing home on Friday.
Over 250 caregivers were tested and four employees tested positive, including Widman.
“I am one of the staff members who has tested positive and although I continue to show no signs or symptoms of the disease, I will be following the recommendations provided to us,” Widman wrote in a letter to friends and family of Good Shepherd Home residents.
Widman said staff testing at the Good Shepherd Home will continue with their next test date scheduled for Wednesday.
“The Seneca County health commissioner has been consulted to ensure we continue to respond appropriately. Good Shepherd Home has now experienced six employees testing positive for COVID-19,” Widman wrote in the letter.
