Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating serious injury crash in Lima

LIMA, Ohio — The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred on Allentown Road near Dutch Hollow Road.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:57 PM on July 15, 2020.

Michael R. Morey, age 40 of Lima, Ohio was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Mr. Morey was eastbound on Allentown Road and went left of center.  Mr. Morey sideswiped a westbound 2008 Jeep Wrangler driven by Dalton M. Hahn, age 16 of Lima, Ohio.

After the vehicles made contact the 2008 Jeep came to a controlled rest and stopped in the roadway.

The 2003 Harley Davidson laid down on the right side, and slid to a stop.  Mr. Morey fell off the motorcycle after contact with the Jeep and was incapacitated.

Mr. Morey was transported to Mercy Health with serious injuries by American Township EMS.  Mr. Hahn did not claim injury at the time of the crash.

Impairment was not a factor in this crash.  Mr. Morey was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by American Township Fire Department, American Township EMS, Army’s Towing and Miller’s Towing.
