Furniture company to expand, create over 80 new full-time positions at Tiffin facility
TIFFIN — A Missouri-based furniture company plans to expand its Tiffin plant, creating over 80 new jobs.
Dorel Home Furnishings, Inc., located at 458 Second Ave., expects to create 87 new full-time positions, generating $2.9 million in new annual payroll and retaining $7.3 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Tiffin.
The company currently employs 218 people in Seneca County.
Also known as Ameriwood, Dorel Home Furnishings provides ready-to-assemble furniture for consumers.
“We are excited to announce that we will be expanding in our facility in Tiffin. Tiffin has been an important partner in Dorel’s business model and will continue to rely on it as the company grows,” said Norman Braunstein, President and CEO of Dorel Home.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The expansion project at Dorel’s Tiffin facility was approved for a 1.103%, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit from TCA.
The approval of Dorel’s expansion project for a tax credit was announced Monday by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s Development Services Agency.
“We are grateful for the collaboration with RGP, the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership and the Development Services Agency to bring Dorel’s expansion and 87 new jobs to Northwest Ohio,” said J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO. “Dorel’s expansion at its ready-to-assemble furniture plant will update its equipment and bring more opportunity to Tiffin as Ohio continues to grow its economy.”
Dorel’s investment in Tiffin includes $2.57 million in new machinery and equipment, as well as $700,000 in updates to the facility.
“I am proud that Tiffin was chosen as the location for this expansion and hope that the company will continue to invest in Tiffin for many years to come. In light of these difficult times, I’m excited that we are able to share the good news with our citizens that we continue to be a community that is growing,” Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz said.
Dorel Home Furnishings, Inc. is a global organization, with its head office in Wright City, Missouri. The company has 1,300 total employees across all of its locations and operates three distinct businesses in juvenile products, bicycles, and home products. Dorel markets a wide assortment of domestically produced and imported furniture in brands like Ameriwood Home, DHP Furniture, and Cosco.
