TIFFIN — The Seneca County Fair Board announced Saturday that it has made a decision on mechanical rides for the 2020 fair.
There will be mechanical rides at the fair, set to take place July 27 through August 2.
Faced with the choice of no rides, or to go with a new company that charges more for rides, the Fair Board chose to go with the new company. Therefore, the 50-cent ride option will not be available this year.
Ride bands will be sold at the cost of $20 for a full day and $10 for a half day.
“I can assume you the board has been faced with very hard decisions over the last few months. We are doing the best we can with the circumstances we are up against,” a Facebook post from the Fair Board states.
According to the Fair Board, some of the grandstands events have been canceled due to the current restrictions of 50% capacity amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Horse racing will still take place July 27 and July 28.
DeWine’s Fair Advisory Group has released guidelines for how county fair boards and agricultural societies can work with county health departments to safely operate junior fairs for kids.
The guidelines focus on maintaining social distancing, limiting crowds, ensuring the health of everyone involved in the junior fair activities, and animal care and welfare.
