TIFFIN — A fire at a local homeless shelter has been extinguished, according to Tiffin Fire Rescue.

Around 3 p.m., crews were dispatched to The Morrison House in Tiffin, located at 107 W. Perry St., which offers transitional housing and a safe haven for families and individuals in need of shelter, for a fire that initially broke out on the back porch.

Everyone in the house made it out safely, officials said.

The Morrison House has reached out to the American Red Cross for assistance for those who were displaced from the facility.

The damage from the fire is significant, but it did not result in a total loss.

According to The Morrison House Facebook page, it is not known at this time what will be needed for the families and individuals who live at the house, but they will update their Facebook page with more details for anyone who wants to assist.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Tiffin Fire Rescue was assisted by the Tiffin Police Department and the Clinton Township Fire Department.
