TIFFIN — The Seneca County Fair Board announced Tuesday that the 2020 Seneca County Fair will take place.
The fair is scheduled for July 27 through August 2.
According to the Fair Board, some of the grandstands events have been canceled due to the current restrictions of 50% capacity amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Horse racing will still take place July 27 and July 28.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced last month that the decision on holding county fairs would be left to local leaders.
DeWine’s Fair Advisory Group has released guidelines for how county fair boards and agricultural societies can work with county health departments to safely operate junior fairs for kids.
The guidelines focus on maintaining social distancing, limiting crowds, ensuring the health of everyone involved in the junior fair activities, and animal care and welfare.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture is in the process of distributing all state funding available for Ohio’s 94 county and independent fairs.
The Ohio State Fair was canceled this year to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
On Wednesday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine released updated guidance for county and independent fairs. You can see what is included in the guidance here.
