Gov. Mike DeWine and Dr. Amy Acton have become a staple of many Ohioans’ afternoons, including one Ohio web developer who tunes in daily for the state coronavirus updates from his home in Stow.
Dave Stofka of Stofka Creative created an animated makeover of DeWine and Acton in a video set to the music from the 1970s sitcom Laverne and Shirley.
“The strong leadership he and his team have provided since early on in the crisis has earned international attention and acclaim and looks to have benefited Ohio with lower case numbers and more tempered strain on the medical system than expected,” Stofka said in the post.
Stofka replicated the old TV show with a new song and scenes featured animated versions of DeWine and Acton.
The video has been shared widely on social media. Stofka said the main message he hoped people would take away from his animation is to remain positive.
“I had a lot of time on my hands and things were really starting to fall apart around the world,” Stofka told the Akron Beacon Journal. “I needed something creative to take my mind off of the doom and gloom that has going around.”
