Police warn of new IRS scam amid coronavirus pandemic: Here’s what you need to know
Police are warning of a new scam where callers claim they are from the IRS and need your bank account information to deposit a coronavirus relief check.
“Please watch out for the scams,” a Facebook post from the Grand Rapids Police Department says.
“The IRS WILL NOT CALL YOU! Federal aid will either be deposited via account information the IRS already has from your tax filings or they will send you a check,” the police department noted in its post.
People from around the country have reported receiving these scam phone calls, according to police.
