FOSTORIA, Ohio — The Fostoria Police Division has released new details surrounding an alleged assault at the local Save A Lot store.
Police said on Thursday around 12:56 p.m., they were made aware of a Facebook post regarding an alleged assault occurring at the store, located on N. Countyline St.
Fostoria Police Division said it feels it is their duty and responsibility to determine the circumstances and the validity of the posting, so they contacted law enforcement from Putnam County Sheriff’s Office in order to contact the alleged victim.
The victim has come forward and has reported the incident and the Fostoria Police Division is currently investigating an assault.
As with any investigation or incident, police strongly urge anyone with information to contact their local law enforcement agency prior to any postings on social media. That not only delays the ability of police to investigate, but can also create fear and misinformation, according to Fostoria PD.
Fostoria Police asks that if anyone was a witness to the assault, or if you have seen a male that has a bite injury on their neck, immediately contact them at (419) 435-8573.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Thursday, March 5.
