K-12 schools in Ohio will remain closed until at least May 1 amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Monday.

DeWine said during his daily press conference Monday that the Ohio Department of Health would extend the initial order, which was issued March 12 and closed schools for three weeks, until at least May 1.

DeWine added that the May 1 date will be reevaluated as time gets closer.

The initial order was set to expire Friday, April 3.
