FREMONT, Ohio — A viral video circulating on social media shows a man allegedly attempting to meet children for sex at Walmart in Fremont.

On Tuesday at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Fremont Police Department was alerted to the video, which began going viral on social media.

Fremont Police Chief Dean Bliss said the video shows a man, later identified as 39-year-old Rafael Valadez-Loera, being confronted by men at Walmart at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Valadez-Loera had agreed over social media to meet a 14-year-old boy at Walmart after sexually explicit messages were exchanged, according to police.

Valadez-Loera was identified and located by the Fremont Police Department.

The U.S. Border Patrol assisted in the investigation and took Valadez-Loera into custody for violation of immigration status, Bliss said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing and other law enforcement agencies have been notified, Bliss said.

Valadez-Loera could face additional charges at the conclusion of the investigation.
