Ohio school district brings back in-school driver’s ed class

While driver’s education classes have nearly disappeared from schools, one Ohio district is bucking the trend.

Akron Public Schools is piloting a program to bring back driver’s education classes to high schools where the need is greatest, The Akron Beacon-Journal reported.

The program is run by a third-party group, but classes are held at the high school right after the final period of the day.

The classes are offered at a discounted rate, and some students are even able to earn scholarships to help with the costs.

The program is designed to help students get their license before turning 18 in order to help with employment opportunities.
