Man pleads guilty to assaulting Seneca County deputy Staff




An Idaho man has pleaded guilty to an assault charge after admitting to assaulting a Seneca County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

James D. Nafus, 50, of Boise, Idaho, was charged with assault on a peace officer, a felony of the fourth-degree.

Nafus admitted to striking Deputy Mark Lawson of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office several times with a closed fist, kicked him several times, and clawed him on his right hand during the altercation on February 23, 2019, according to court records.

Nafus was previously ordered to the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital for an evaluation and was found competent to stand trial, according to court records.
