A 10-year-old Alabama boy learned a great lesson in integrity and empathy this past weekend.
While shopping at a Target store in Hoover, Foster Dudley, 10, found a bank envelope with $900 cash inside.
The envelope contained a receipt from a local credit union with a woman’s name and signature inside, Foster’s mom, Parisa, described in a Facebook post.
“His first response was, ‘Mom, can we keep it?’ I looked at him and asked him to put himself in her shoes,” Parisa said.
“What if he had lost that much money. How would he feel? He quickly answered ‘Mom, we have to find her and give it back.'”
Foster and his mom turned the envelope into the store manager, who was able to track the woman who lost the envelope down with the help of police.
“He even got a reward. A $100 Target gift card!,” Parisa said.
