TIFFIN — A Sycamore man pleaded guilty to charges in Seneca County Common Pleas Court on Monday.

In August, Stephen Braxton Maple, 20, of Sycamore, was charged with first-degree felony rape, third-degree felony abduction, and fourth-degree felony gross sexual imposition.

On Monday, Maple pleaded guilty to the abduction and gross sexual imposition charges in Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom. The rape charge is expected to be dismissed at Maple’s sentencing.

The assault took place in February, according to court records, when Maple took a woman against her will and assaulted her, according to court records.

Maple’s sentencing recommendation is five years of community control, classification as a Tier 1 sex offender, and completion of a Volunteers of America program. The actual sentencing will be determined at an upcoming hearing.

Maple would also be ordered to undergo drug and alcohol urinalysis, and to no longer have contact with the victim.
