TIFFIN — The president of the Tiffin City School Board of Education is speaking out after the district’s superintendent, Gary A. Barber, was charged with OVI and lane violations in Marion on Friday.
Andrew Gase said that he supports Barber and officials are going to help him. Gase said Barber is still serving as the district’s superintendent.
Barber was pulled over by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper in Marion around 10:49 PM on Friday, November 29.
The TCS superintendent, who previously worked as Marion City Schools superintendent, refused to participate in a DUI test on-scene.
A demand for a trial by jury was requested by Barber’s attorney, according to court records.
A pre-trial hearing is set in the case for Thursday, December 5 at 9:30 AM at Marion Municipal Court.
Barber was previously found guilty of OVI in 2017.
Barber’s Twitter account (@tcssupt) has been deactivated and can no longer be viewed.
