PERKINS TOWNSHIP, Ohio — An 8-year-old child has died Saturday in Perkins Township from a gunshot wound.
Just a few hours after a separate shooting in nearby Sandusky killed a man, Perkins Township Police and EMS units were dispatched around 3 p.m. to Memphis Ave. for the shooting of an 8-year-old, according to Erie County Scanner Uncensored on Facebook.
Authorities then learned that an individual was already driving the 8-year-old victim to Firelands Regional Medical Center in their personal vehicle, the Sandusky Register reported.
The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The identity of the victim won’t be released until family members are notified, according to Perkins Township Police Chief Robb Parthemore.
The incident remains under investigation.
