Police: Intoxicated Tiffin man shot with Taser after threatening to shoot cops, asking them to shoot him

TIFFIN, OH — An intoxicated man was reportedly shot with a Taser by Tiffin Police officers on Wednesday night.

Police received a disturbance report involving the intoxicated man and his wife at 17 Miami St.

According to a report, prior to the Tiffin Police Department’s arrival, the man used a razor/knife to cut both of his wrists and neck.

Upon arriving at the residence, police say the man told them he had a gun and was going to shoot them. The man also said he wanted police to shoot him.

Sgt. Jake DeMonte of the Tiffin Police Department said the officers were able to negotiate with the man and get him to calm down after shooting him with a Taser. The man was taken by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division to Tiffin Mercy Hospital.
