Tiffin Mercy Hospital, eye doctor SLAMMED with medical malpractice lawsuit

TIFFIN, OH — Tiffin Mercy Hospital is facing a medical malpractice lawsuit yet again, this time with one of its ophthalmologists.

According to court records, Clyde and Catherine A. Smith, of Tiffin, had a lawsuit filed on behalf of them against Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital LLC and Dr. Blair Clark of Fremont and Tiffin Eye Centers.

Mr. Clyde Smith saw Dr. Clark to have cataract surgery performed on his right eye.

Within two days after the surgery, Smith’s eye was “infected beyond recovery,” causing him to lose all sight in his right eye.

Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff will preside over the suit.
