Man allegedly threatened to shoot students at recess, Calvert Elementary placed on lockdown
TIFFIN, OH — Calvert Catholic Elementary School, formerly known as St. Joseph’s Elementary, located at 357 S. Washington St., was placed on lockdown Tuesday after the school reportedly received a threat.
According to a police report, the school was placed on a “soft lockdown” in response to the threat, which allegedly became apparent to school officials around 1:15 PM. The principal of Calvert reported the threat to Tiffin Police.
According to the principal, students reported that a man was allegedly walking past the school and made threats to come back and shoot the children during recess. Tiffin Police say that the children at the school were apparently making “rude comments” to the man, who then proceeded to criticize the teachers for not reprimanding the students.
