Tiffin considering designated outdoor alcohol area downtown, seeks community input
TIFFIN, OH — According to a press release from the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership, Downtown Tiffin is exploring establishing a DORA (Designated Outdoor Refeshment Area).
A newer state law (early 2017) allows cities to create a DORA, or Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area.
Patrons of participating licensed restaurants, bars and entertainment venues can carry up to 16 oz. of an open alcoholic beverage in a designated cup outside in the DORA.
11 communities in Ohio are currently participating, with no problems reported, according to the release.
“The purpose is to encourage more visitors into the downtown, and encourage them to spend more money, while enhancing outdoor dining and entertainment experiences.”
