Tiffin & Seneca County authorities respond to string of break-ins

TIFFIN, OH — According to audio from police scanners as well as sources familiar with the situation, local authorities responded to a string of break-ins at local businesses Monday.

The incidents were reported in the early hours of Monday morning.

The timeline of calls, including the agency which responded, follows:

  • 3:53 AM – GW’s Fine Food & Spirits, Tiffin Police Department
  • 4:30 AM – I.C. Treats-N-Things, Seneca County Sheriff
  • 5:30 AM – Bettsville American Legion, Seneca County Sheriff
  • 6:40 AM – Sun-Days (Bettsville), Seneca County Sheriff

A burglar alarm reportedly summoned officers to GW’s, where the back door had been forced open. According to a statement from authorities, nothing appeared to have been stolen at the scene.

A person was then seen inside I.C. Treats-N-Things in Bascom at 4:30 AM. An alarm then summoned authorities to the Bettsville American Legion at 5:30 AM. After responding to the Legion, shortly after at 6:40 AM, authorities discovered a break-in at Sun-Days ice cream shop in Bettsville.
