Humane Society: Rumor going around “not true”
TIFFIN, OH — There is allegedly a rumor going around Tiffin that the Humane Society is giving out free dog and cat food. The organization released a statement on Friday in response to the rumor, which is apparently spreading quickly around social media:
“It has come to our attention today that there is a rumor going around that we’re giving out free dog and cat food. We’d like to let everyone know that we are not giving out food, we run entirely on donations and are not funded by the city or county,” a spokesperson for the Humane Society of Seneca County said.
“In special circumstances we do give food to people who are truly needy and have fallen on hard times so that they are not forced to surrender the animal to us, leading to more homeless animals.
These cases a few and far between and it is done with the animals best interest in mind. Please help us spread the word, our animals depend on the food and resources that are donated to us!”
Please share on Facebook to dispel the rumor!
