TIFFIN, OH – As a show of support and appreciation for local police, a third grade elementary class in Tiffin donated a thank you basket for the Tiffin Police Department.

Mrs. Christine Shaver’s third-grade class at Krout School put together a gift consisting of snacks, drinks, and a card in coordination with the recent Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, celebrated nationwide.

“Mrs. Shaver’s Third Grade Elementary Class from Krout dropped off an awesome thank you gift for us here at TPD,” the department said through a Facebook post.

“They saw that it was Law Enforcement Appreciation day last week and the class collected some things they thought we would like. Thank you very much!,” the department added.

January 9, 2018 was national Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. According to NationalCops.org, partnering organizations in support of law enforcement officers nationwide promoted National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.). In light of recent negativity directed toward law enforcement nationally, there is a need to show law enforcement officers that our citizens recognize the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen, in public service to us all.

On January 9th of each year we called our nation’s citizens to action in support of law enforcement.  Those citizens who appreciate law enforcement and are discouraged about the negative attention being given to law enforcement were encouraged to take time on January 9, to show their support.
